Frequently Asked Questions

Cryolipolysis

What is Cryolipolysis?

Cryolipolysis is the scientific word for fat freezing through the LA Lipo system and is exactly what it does. “Cryo” means icy cold and “lipolysis” is the word for the breaking down of fat. … But simply put, Cryolipolysis is how you can kill off fat by freezing it.

Is it Painful?

The treatment is more uncomfortable than it is painful; recipients say it is similar to having an ice cube placed on your skin for a prolonged period of time.

How Does it Work?

When you diet and lose weight the fat cells shrink but they are still present and will grow again if your lifestyle changes or returns. So losing weight just changes the size of the fat cells.

Cryolipolysis is a different process to weight loss,  the fat is eliminated and dissolved through the body over the following 3-12 weeks post-treatment. The effectiveness of cryolipolysis has been clinically proven to be permanent. Freezing through cryolipolysis will kill the treated fat cells, once they are gone they are gone for good!

Who Will Cryolipolysis Benefit?

While Cryolipolysis can be very beneficial for people who are overweight, it is not the treatment of choice for people who have a lot of weight to lose or are obese because it is designed to target stubborn fat pockets that are difficult to shift with diet and exercise alone. While Cryolipolysis is not a substitute for a healthy diet and regular exercise, it can help reduce the appearance of unwanted fat deposits in some individuals.
Cryolipolysis is not a treatment for Cellulite and it is not a treatment for obesity or people that are generally overweight. If you struggle to keep the weight off this won’t be the magic wand you hope for, we can however help with weight management, which we would look to explore first. Then when are near your goal weight we can address those stubborn areas.

How long does it take to see results?

As well as seeing immediate results you should notice a visible difference and a sculpting effect over time.

How long do results last?

In most cases you may only need one session but depending on your results and desired look you can choose to have additional sessions in the coming months, our consultant will be happy to discuss this will you during your appointment. People often ask if after treatment can the fat grow back. This is an important question for those wondering how long your LA Lipo treatment will last. No, the fat will not come back, it has been killed off in the freezing process and the body cannot create more fat cells to replace those eliminated via the Cryolipoysis treatment.

What happenes to the fat?

The most asked question about fat freezing, apart from does it hurt is, where does the fat go?! When the fat cells are frozen and killed during a LA Lipo treatment they are then cleaned up by your body’s own immune cells and ultimately eliminated from your body through urine.

Frequently Asked Questions

Cryopen

What is Cryopen Treatment?

Cryopen is the state of the art treatment, which uses technology to apply extreme cold to an affected area to safely and painlessly remove unwanted, benign, superficial skin imperfections on the surface of your skin.

What can it be used on?

Cryopen can successfully remove

  • Sunspots
  • Freckles or hyper dark lesions
  • Scars
  • Age spots
  • Warts
  • Moles
  • Skin tags
  • Cherry angiomas (red blisters)
  • Milia (white lumps)
  • Verruca

How are skin imperfections destroyed during cryotherapy?

The applicator is held to the skin imperfection and moved quickly towards and away from it. This will last from 1-30 seconds, depending on the size of the lesion. The CryoPen freezes at a rate of approximately 1mm per 5 seconds.

Is it painful?

When the nitrous oxide reaches the bottom of the affected area, there will be a mild stinging sensation just like a stinging nettle creates. The area can be slightly itchy for about 10 minutes after the procedure, but there might be a slight residual stinging for a few minutes. Due to the freezing temperatures, most patients get an anaesthetic affect.

After the treatment, what does the area look like?

Freezing the area happens during the procedure, and the area becomes white. As the ice melts, a flushing occurs, turning the white area red and forming a lesion. When the lesion has formed, a crust will develop over it. The crust will fall off in anywhere from 10 to 14 days. As the crust falls off, it will reveal healthy new skin underneath. Lighter skin colour or pinkness may be noted at first, which then fades as the weeks go by. Wounds on the legs may take longer to heal than others.
For larger or deeper lesions secondary or additional crusts may which can slow down the healing process.

Will I be left with scarring?

Rarely. Both hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin) and hypopigmentation (lightening of the skin) may occur temporarily after cryotherapy through the healing process. Both generally last for a maximum of a few weeks to months. Pigment change is more common in darker skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

HIFU

What is HIFU?

High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) uses the energy from multiple beams of ultrasound. Individually the beams do not affect the tissue. However, their area of convergence heats the tissue below the surface causing it to contract and tighten, while also encouraging the production of our natural collagen deep in the skin’s layers.

How quickly do you see results?

The advantage of HIFU is that improvements can be seen quickly, with maximum results expected after three to six months. The stimulating effect of HIFU promotes the production of new collagen, which does happen over a period of time.

How does the treatment work?

Collagen production reduces as we age and HIFU encourages the production which will lead to better skin elasticity, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and a more youthful appearance.

How long do the effects of the treatment last?

The effects of your HIFU treatment will last for 12-24 months and we recommend that if you wish to maintain the benefits of your treatment you have a “refresh” session each year.

Which areas can HIFU be used?

HIFU is an ideal treatment for various areas, namely the brows, jowls, jawline, nasolabial folds, neck, abdomen, and so on. Because of the effectiveness in targeting lines and wrinkles associated with aging, HIFU is also commonly used to treat crow’s feet and frown lines

Frequently Asked Questions

Microneedling

What is Dermpen Microneedling?

Dermapen micro needling treatment is an electronic needling device that creates controlled micro injuries in the skin forcing the skin to renew and repair itself naturally and safely.

Will I be left with scarring?

No the Dermapen treatment will leave you with fresh clear skin and no scarring.

How does it work?

Dermapen has 12 microscopic needles that oscillate very quickly creating the tiny wounds in the skin’s surface without tearing or shearing the skin. These micro-injuries trigger a process which stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin, so that the skin regenerates itself from within.

Is the treatment painful?

Micro needling can be uncomfortable but any mild discomfort is shortlived. Typically you will experience redness and mild swelling for 24-48 hours after the treatment, followed by some slight peeling.

How long does it take to work?

Every treatment gives immediate results and then continued visible improvement over the following weeks and months. For the very best results we recommend a course of 3-6 treatment sessions and for skin rejuvenation a “refresher” session once a year. Results on scarring are permanent.
